Books - The Gospel According to Rome

Mini-Review of

The Gospel According to Rome

From Moody Magazine, June, 1995

The recent debate over Catholic-evangelical relationships has left many people confused. What does Rome teach today? Do the old differences between Catholics and Protestants still matter?

According to Jim McCarthy, a former Catholic, Rome teaches another gospel, one that fails key biblical tests. In firm but fair language, he examines Catholic teachings on salvation, the mass, Mary, and authority. Each of his points s thoroughly supported by references to the new Catholic catechism or other official documents.

Of the numerous recent books on Catholicism, this is the only one with cross references to the new catechism. McCarthy's careful research and clear writing provide much-needed clarity in a day of doctrinal confusion.
